The official representative of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, Svetlana Petrénko, reported that the head of the Radiological, Chemical and Biological Defense Troops of the Armed Forces, Igor Kirílov, lost his life early this Tuesday morning in Moscow due to the explosion of an artifact.

“According to the data of the investigation, on the morning of December 17, on Riazanski Avenue in Moscow, an explosive device placed on a scooter that was next to the entrance of a residential building was detonated,” reads a statement from the spokeswoman for the Russian Investigative Committee.

Hispantv has detailed in citation to the report that the incident also killed Lieutenant Kirílov's assistant, who used to regularly submit reports on the activity of the United States (USA) in biological laboratories, especially in Ukraine.

The senior Russian military official warned last October that a provocation was being prepared from Ukraine to accuse Russia of the use of toxic substances during the country's special military operation on Ukrainian territory.
