Venezuelan Luis Torrens became the first mask to be recognized as the Play of the Week in Major League Baseball (MLB), since the award was created in 2019, in the form of MLB Network, on Monday afternoon.

Overall, it's the eighth award of its kind for a member of the Mets and his second of the season, after Puerto Rican Francisco Lindor won it on May 6. While no Venezuelan had raised it in 2024.
