This Friday, the Palestinian Resistance Movement, HAMAS, reported that the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, deliberately manipulated the negotiations of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and that he acted to frustrate it “for political interests”.

The HAMAS statements come after the dismissed head of the Shin Bet (the Israeli internal intelligence service), Ronen Bar, in a letter sent to the Israeli Government, stated that Netanyahu wanted to “carry out negotiations on the Gaza Strip without reaching a real agreement”.

The Palestinian resistance organization added that Netanyahu's attempts to exclude influential security figures from negotiations reflect his crisis and the deepening trust deficit between him and his security apparatus.

HAMAS argued that the statements of the former head of the Shin Bet confirm that Netanyahu tried to promote apparently formal dialogues “to buy time, without achieving effective results.”
