Guatemala reported a magnitude 6.1 earthquake

Almost at midnight this Friday, an earthquake of magnitude 6.1 was recorded in Guatemala.

According to information provided by the National Institute of Seismology, Volcanology, Meteorology and Hydrology of Guatemala through the social network X, which indicated that the natural phenomenon occurred at 11:54 p.m. local time on Friday, January 26.

“At the moment there are no casualties or damage and monitoring is being maintained at the national level,” added the civil protection spokesman, Rodolfo García.

For its part, the National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction of Guatemala (CONRED) indicated that there were several collapses of drinking water pipes and rocks falling on the façade of a church as a result of the earthquake.

In addition, CONRED explained that the earthquake was felt in 12 departments at a depth of 108 km.
