The Government of Guárico State maintains controlled heavy cargo traffic on the El Sombrero Bridge after being damaged, while light vehicles travel with total fluidity.

The passage of heavy transport is kept under strict control, after a slight deformation occurred in the bearing layer of the structure, caused by a 12-centimeter settlement in the running board number 3, heading north, reported José Guillermo Ortiz, Secretary of Infrastructure in the region, after leading a technical inspection on the AMAS (Superior Metal Reinforcement Armor) type work.

He emphasized that the bridge “has no deflection or detachment in its internal anchoring elements”, ensuring that it remains stable and without compromising structural damage.

Ortiz noted that the case report has already been sent to the company Puentes Cagua, an entity attached to the Ministry of People's Power for Transportation, which will be responsible for carrying out the necessary corrective work.

He stressed that to ensure compliance with the transit scheme, there is the deployment and support of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) together with various State security forces.

The state director of the Transportation Department also called for calm to the Guarican population and specified that the situation will be corrected as soon as possible.

This section of Troncal 13, which connects the towns of Chaguaramas — El Sombrero — Dos Caminos, represents a complex and strategic infrastructure.

Ortiz noted that the system consists of two AMAS bridges and an Acrow type structure.
