“Venezuela continues to shine on the parliamentary stage” after its full reintegration into the World Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), said the second vice-president of the National Assembly (AN), Grecia Colmenares, during her speech before the Chamber.

“Today I want to recall before this chamber the news announced by our president of the National Assembly on October 7, when he spoke of the reincorporation of Venezuela into the World Inter-Parliamentary Union, an instance from which we were unjustly removed for almost 11 years,” said Colmenares.

The parliamentarian stressed that, despite attempts at blockade in the economic, financial and diplomatic spheres, the country managed to resume its participation with the support of a delegation that carried the Bolivarian vision of dialogue. “We express to the IPU the commitment of Venezuela and its Parliament to continue promoting inclusion, the well-being of citizens and the conditions for effective governance,” he said.

Colmenares highlighted the role of the president of the AN, Jorge Rodríguez, in the reintegration process, as well as the agenda of bilateral meetings held in Tanzania, where several countries expressed their solidarity with Venezuela. “The National Assembly will never be silenced; Venezuela continues to express its will to be a country of solidarity and self-determination in the world,” he concluded.
