Governor Terán: La Guaira expects to receive more than 1.5 million visitors at Carnavales

The governor of the state of La Guaira, José Alejandro Terán, announced this Friday, January 24, the official schedule for the 2025 Tourist Carnival, highlighting a cultural, sports and recreational program that seeks to position the state as the tourist destination par excellence during the season.
At a press conference, he specified that more than 1.5 million seasonal workers are expected, whose safety is guaranteed with a deployment of health operations and an important hotel offer.
The festive calendar will begin next Friday, 31, with the casting to select the youth candidates in the Hugo Chávez Hall of the Ministerial House in Playa Grande, organized by the La Guaira Events Foundation.
Among the most outstanding events, announced by the regional president, is the school and troupe parade scheduled for February 26 on Paseo de Macuto, while the grand final to choose the queen and mini queen will be held on February 27 in the same place.
He also announced that on February 28, in the evening, the election of the queen will take place at the top of the José María Vargas Sports Center, after protocol events in Plaza Bolívar Chávez for the commemoration of La Guaira Day.
In addition, February 29, March 01 and 2 will be dedicated to sports and recreational festivals on beaches such as Caraballeda, Catia La Mar, Naiguatá, Los Caracas and Chuspa.
The closing of the carnivals will be marked by the parade of floats on March 02 and 03, with the participation of 15 floats from public institutions and private companies that will travel from the Catia La Mar terminal to the Caraballeda parish. In parallel, the Boulevard Paseo La Marina in Catia La Mar will host three nights of concerts, costume contests and awards.
Regarding safety and attention to visitors, he explained that more than 3,000 officials will guarantee safety on the state's 66 suitable beaches, while four mobile health units and 200 traffic supervisors will be set up to prevent irregularities in transport prices.
He also reported on the organization of beach merchants with supply plans and fair prices. With a significant increase in reservations, the state will offer more than 8,000 beds available, according to the latest census of the Regional Tourism Institute.
He announced that to strengthen the state's hotel capacity, the Macuto Sheraton and the Meliá are making progress in their rehabilitation projects, together with the hotels included in the Special Economic Zones. “Soon we will be holding a press conference to show all the progress of these works,” he said.
Terán also reported that more than 100 artists will be deployed on the Historical Route of La Guaira, which includes activities in the Castle of Vigía and the historic center.
In addition, the “Barrio Adentro Carnival” program will deliver more than 3,000 piñatas and toys, accompanied by cultural activities and costume contests in organized communities.
“These Carnivals not only represent an opportunity to celebrate our identity, but also to activate the state's economic engine and position La Guaira as the country's main tourist destination,” he said.
