The governor of the state of La Guaira, José Alejandro Terán, after exercising his right to vote, highlighted the citizenship, resilience and organization of the Guairian People's Power.
The regional president expressed his gratitude to the media for the informative display during the day and specified that 160 electoral centers were successfully enabled in the coastal entity, distributed in 80 communes and communal circuits, where more than 520 projects previously debated in citizen's meetings were submitted.
The governor recalled that this type of voting will allow the selection of two projects for each commune, which will receive direct funding for their prompt execution.
“In La Guaira, the People's Power has demonstrated an extraordinary capacity for administration and management. In a leading way, our communities, through the Popular Consultations, have executed more than 700 projects and directly managed nearly 7 million dollars to respond to their priorities through this unprecedented exercise of direct democracy,” Terán emphasized.
He also stressed that the process has the technical support of the National Electoral Council (CNE), the safeguarding of the material by the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) through the Republic Plan, and the articulation of the Self-Government Chambers of Popular Power.
“This is the first community election we held in the state of La Guaira after the two earthquakes that affected our region. The mass mobilization from the early hours confirms that the Guairian people reaffirm their resilience in the face of adversity, consolidating communal self-government,” he added.
