The Governor of Miranda State, Héctor Rodríguez, said this Monday, January 22, that political leaders and leaders are called to assume their responsibility with Venezuelan families.

“I call on leaders, to leaders, so that everyone who assumes their responsibility and their role, it is our responsibility. Citizens want to see politicians who assume their responsibility, politicians who talk about community problems and how to change them; politicians who talk about politics, about the economy, about people's problems, politicians who talk about politics, about economy, about people's problems,” said Rodríguez from the Emma Soler Theater in Los Teques, during the presentation of the Memory and Account 2023.

He said that he has been listening to a debate about the depoliticization of world and Venezuelan society. “I wonder: Are people who are depoliticized or are politicians the ones who are depoliticized? Or are we politicians the ones who are disconnected from reality?”

On the other hand, he said that in addition to offering accountability, he has focused on continuing to work on strengthening leading democracy.

He said: “For there to be leading democracy, there must be accountability (...) I come to strengthen collective democracy (...) For full democracy to exist, organization and collective conscience are important.”

In this regard, he confirmed that it is essential to serve the people, to govern for citizens and not to stray from the Venezuelan reality.

Likewise, the governor ruled that to be a leader you have to put up with criticism, if you can't stand criticism and that you say things to your face doesn't work for politics, he said.

“We have to demand more, we cannot accommodate ourselves in power, it is treason for those who vote for us. We need a little more leather and put up with criticism,” Rodríguez said.

Rodríguez considered that those who do politics must connect with people's feelings. “They have to feel the pain of others as their own, they have to make you want to cry, when the other one is sad you must be sad, if the other one is happy, you must be happy,” he said.

He also indicated that leaders have an obligation to rethink us in the new era.

“The Venezuelan reality is different, we have an obligation to understand very well the things that are happening,” he said.
