The Government of Anzoátegui, together with the local government of Barcelona, activated the video surveillance system in the Fuente
Luminosa, La Chica and Bulevar 5 de Julio sectors of the historic center of the entity's capital city.
The system was activated in a first phase with 16 high-tech cameras with AI, in a project that is aimed at ensuring collective security in these spaces, including commercial establishments. Initially, strategic roads such as Ezequiel Zamora, Camino Nuevo, Las Flores, Nicolás Rolando, La Victoria and Pedro María Freites Avenue will be monitored, but expansion to other areas of the city is expected in the coming months.
The system includes cameras with facial recognition technology and license plate reader, tools that will identify people requested by the Venezuelan justice system or vehicles with irregularities, regional press reported.
The monitoring will be carried out by a mixed team made up of more than 10 officials from the municipal police and the public security directorate, who will operate 24 hours a day.
