With the objective of strengthening crime prevention, the government of the state of Anzoátegui activated a video surveillance system in Plaza Libertadores in Barcelona.

These are 45 cameras, three of them for facial recognition, which are responsible for monitoring this space in real time, as well as Caracas Avenue and Bulevar 5 de Julio in Barcelona.

Governor Luis José Marcano specified that it is a state-of-the-art surveillance system and that it is included in the plan "70 Works For Chávez”. The regional president emphasized that “the idea is that every person who comes to visit Plaza Libertadores, to enjoy its spaces, can have the tranquility, peace and certainty of being in a safe place,” reported a press release from the regional government.
