The state of Anzoátegui is emerging as one of the most productive entities in the country with the contribution of 22,000 hectares of cereals and a projected production of more than 78,000 metric tons of white and yellow corn by the end of this year 2026.

This was reported this Thursday, October 1st, by the Minister of Popular Power for Productive Agriculture and Lands, Wladimir Padrino López, who together with the governor of the entity, Luis Marcano, stressed that this phase corresponds to the Maize Harvest Plan for the Winter Cycle 2026, which began formally and was announced this Wednesday, September 29, by the President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez.

From the facilities of the Radum Agricultural Unit, in La Mesa de Guanipa, the authorities also issued 434 land award titles to small and medium-sized producers from all four axes of the state.

This is a significant act that transcends the regularization of property, seeking to achieve social justice with peasant families and ensure national agri-food sovereignty in the face of historic dependence on oil revenues.

For his part, Governor Luis Marcano praised the work of the farmers' union and stressed the need to balance industrial development with rural production, stating that “we cannot allow this new phase of oil promotion to make us retreat from the great agricultural achievements achieved in recent years.”

The meeting also served as a working space to evaluate the sustained growth of the livestock, livestock and agricultural sectors in eastern Venezuela, with special emphasis on high-yield crops in the area such as patilla, paprika and peanuts.

As part of the day, the authorities carried out a technical inspection tour aboard a harvester through the fields of La Mesa de Guanipa, an agro-industrial enclave of vital strategic importance because it generates nearly 90% of the peanuts consumed in the national territory.
