The Minister of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, during the wreath to commemorate the Bicentenary of the Designation of Simon Bolivar as a Mexican citizen, highlighted the unity that Venezuela and the Aztec nation have had along their path to independence.

From Plaza Bolívar in Caracas, Gil indicated that it was precisely in 1810 when both nations began their fight for freedom and in 1821 when they achieved it, “that is, Venezuela and Mexico have had the same struggle, they have had the same victorious destiny of consolidating their independence through struggle, the sacrifice of companions, companions and martyrs who today give us this independence that we can enjoy.”

The head of diplomatic relations in Venezuela highlighted the leadership that “President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has consolidated, since we can say that Mexico is still the great protector of Latin American unity, it is the great engine of that unity”, while highlighting the strength of the President of Mexico to resist attacks that “from Europe, from the pretended imperial Spain, which still wants to maintain some actions to push back President López Obrador of his worthy position, his sovereign position”.

Gil said that today, as 200 years ago, Venezuela and Mexico face the same threats of imperialism, and the only way to defend ourselves “is unity, internal and external unity.”

“Fate today wanted Mexico and Venezuela in this year 2024 to celebrate and face important electoral processes, we are sure we are the triumph of the forces independent of the sovereign emerical forces and we are sure we are the triumph of our president Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela”
