General Public Defender inaugurated ombudsman offices for the care of women

The General Public Defender, Daniel Ramírez Herrera, reported that defense offices with special competence in the field of crimes of violence against women were inaugurated.

“We are inaugurating these offices so that public defenders can assist, advise and represent the users identified in the commission of crimes defined in the Organic Law on the Right of Women to a Life Free of Violence,” said Ramírez Herrera.

In addition, the highest authority of the justice body swore in a public defender with special competence in the field of crimes of violence against women, who will work to provide the greatest support to women in a personalized way in cases that come to these offices, according to the press release from Public Defense.

Also, Ramírez Herrera also thanked the president of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), Caryslia Rodríguez; the executive director of the Executive Directorate of the Judiciary, Silio Sánchez; the president of the Criminal Cassation Chamber, Elsa Gómez; and the president of the Criminal Judicial Circuit of the Metropolitan Area of Caracas, Katherine Harington, for the support provided during the adaptation of these courtrooms, which will strengthen access to timely, swift and effective justice.
