The Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, approved the plans for the military ground operation in Rafa, in the southern Gaza Strip despite the dissolution of the United States (US).
The Times of Israel published that regarding the causes of the delay in the Rafa incursion, the head of government noted that the operation “requires certain preparations”.
“This won't take long. Nothing will stop us, neither the United States, nor any other pressure,” he said, pointing out that the destruction of battalions is “essential for victory”, without which his country will face an “existential threat”.
Netanyahu said he conveyed to the President of the United States, Joe Bien, his gratitude for American support, as well as his discomfort over Washington's recent abstention from the resolution on a ceasefire in Gaza in the Security Council of the United Nations (UN), a decision he described as “deplorable”.
