This Sunday, June 23, historian José Ubaldo García, highlighted the efforts of the Bolivarian government to transfer the symbolic remains of the first president of Venezuela, Cristóbal Mendoza, to the National Pantheon.

During his speech, García mentioned the unwavering decision of Commander Hugo Chávez to honor the heroes of the Fatherland, as well as the efforts of the deputies of the National Assembly (AN); the governor of the state of Trujillo, Gerardo Márquez and “of course the firm and decisive word of President Nicolás Maduro to honor this meeting of positive energies”.

“It was not easy to arrive with Don Cristóbal, today a few wills have aligned themselves, the attraction of elements from yesterday and today have made this moment possible to do justice to the illustrious Trujillano,” he said.

“We have come to accompany Don Cristóbal Mendoza Montilla to his last and well-deserved rest in this venue (...) Today we are here in the national pantheon to honor the hero of our independence, the civil creator of laws for the welfare of the people, the citizen, the best public servant,” he said.

The activity, which was led by the President of the Republic, was attended by the Executive Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez; the President of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez; the Ombudsman, Alfredo Ruiz; the Minister of Popular Power for Defense, Vladimir Padrino López, and other State authorities.
