FUNVISIS reports 68 low-intensity earthquakes this week across the country

A total of 68 earthquakes with magnitude between 1.3 and 4.0 were recorded in the national territory during the week of October 30 to November 5, reported the Venezuelan Foundation for Seismological Research (FUNVISIS) through the Venezuelan Seismological and Tsunami Warning Service (SSATV).

Technical monitoring covered the Western, Central and Eastern regions, whose epicentral distribution data and magnitude ranges allow specialists to rigorously evaluate the dynamics of active tectonic faults.

The prevention agency stressed that the continuous study of earthquakes allows us to rigorously understand the behavior of tectonic faults in the region, constituting a fundamental input for comprehensive risk management.

In addition, FUNVISIS keeps the population informed about the movement of tectonic plates in the country, in order to promote a culture of prevention in the face of natural events, to ensure the generation of timely alerts and the scientific study of the phenomena that occur under the Earth's crust.

They reiterate the call to citizens to remain calm in the face of these natural events and to consult only official channels for verified information.
