Four Venezuelans! Announced the 15 referees who will work in the Miami 2024 Caribbean Series

The Caribbean Professional Baseball Confederation announced the names of the 15 referees who will work in the Miami 2024 Caribbean Series that will be played from February 1 to 9 at IoanDepot Park, the home of the Miami Marlins.

The group of referees is made up of four Dominicans, four Venezuelans, four Puerto Ricans and three Mexicans, all of whom have extensive experience in their respective circuits and other settings.

Among the most experienced are the Venezuelan Jonathan Parra and the Puerto Rican Iván Mercado. Both umpires, with extensive experience in their respective leagues and in Minor League Baseball, will be attending their fifth Caribbean Series.

Of the Group, Parra himself, his compatriots Gabriel Alfonzo and Raúl Moreno, and Puerto Ricans Kelvis Vélez and Robert Núñez, saw action even in the last Caribbean Series La Gran Caracas 2023.

Others who participated in previous editions of the Caribbean Series are Dominicans Hardlen Acosta, Félix Neón, Yunior Torres and Ricardo Capois, and Mexicans Gilberto Mayer and Michael Salazar.

There are 3 debutants in the Caribbean Series, Puerto Rican Vincent Morales, Criollo Raynerio Valero and Mexican Aaron Leyva, all with sustained experience inside and outside their respective countries at the various levels of international baseball.

Teams representing the Member Leagues of the Caribbean Professional Baseball Confederation, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Mexico will participate in the Caribbean Series Miami 2024. Joining them are guests from Panama, Curaçao and newcomer Nicaragua.

The schedule includes 25 matches, including 21 corresponding to the qualifying round, 2 to the semifinals, 1 to discuss third place and one for the Championship.
