Foreign Minister Yván Gil: Venezuela is the victim of a fascist campaign

This Wednesday, September 25, the Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, denounced that Venezuela is the victim of a fascist and disinformation campaign, promoted by imperialism and its allies, which incites ignorance of institutions.

During his speech at the General Debate of the 79th Regular Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), in New York, he explained that after the electoral process of July 28, in which President Nicolás Maduro was re-elected “with clear and strong support” from the People, the Venezuelan oligarchy appealed to ignorance of laws and institutions.

He specified that the extremist right generated “criminal violence that resulted in: 27 dead, hundreds injured and the destruction of public and private property.”

“With the use of criminal gangs, they set up barricades, burned down schools, hospitals and the headquarters of public institutions, and murdered ordinary citizens because of their political affiliations,” he said.

He also questioned the role of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, who “despite having received all the information about these criminal acts and about the responsible action of the Venezuelan State, has preferred to turn victims into perpetrators and perpetrators into victims.”
