The Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yván Gil, held a meeting this Thursday with the Prime Minister of Dominica and pro tempore president of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Roosevelt Skerrit, to whom he informed about the results of the consultative referendum of last December 3, “in which Venezuelans voted overwhelmingly in favor of the defense of Guiana Esequiba”.

Through his account on the social network X, Gil stated that he also informed the representative of the Caribbean bloc “the determination of President Nicolás Maduro to address the territorial dispute with Guyana through direct negotiations, in accordance with the Geneva Agreement.”

In this regard, he reiterated that the purpose is to “guarantee peace in the region, respecting the sovereignty of both countries and without external interference”, such as that of the United States, which maintains a constant threat with the Government of Guyana to strip Venezuela of its territory
