The Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil confirmed that this Thursday the first meeting of the joint commission will be held in Brazil to discuss the issues of the territorial dispute between Guyana and Venezuela over Guiana Essequiba.

“Starting tomorrow, the agreed road map that has to do with the territorial dispute will be discussed. We thank the Government of Brazil for hosting this meeting of the joint meeting with representatives of CELAC, CARICOM, with whom we will establish a work agenda. The idea is to be able to define the steps to be taken between Guyana and Venezuela to deal with the controversy over Guyana in a bilateral, direct and diplomatic way,” said Foreign Minister Gil.

He added that “the bases of negotiation were established between them not involving third parties, alienating foreign military powers and framing everything in question in international law.”

He stressed that tomorrow the joint commission will be installed and the necessary subcommissions will be established.
