On Tuesday, March 26, the 30th anniversary of the
release of Commander Hugo Chávez from the “Prison of Dignity” in Yare, the
Minister of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, praised the
commitment of the Supreme Leader of the Bolivarian Revolution to social struggles for the well-being of the population.
Through his account on the social network X, the
Venezuelan Foreign Minister stressed that Commander Chávez left Yare “with the conviction of
fighting for a country of social justice and rescuing our Bolivarian roots.
He toured the catacombs of Venezuela, connecting with the people and listening to their needs.”
In this regard, he exalted that “his commitment and love for the people led
him to win a great popular victory in the 1998 elections”, to
undertake the construction of a new Homeland through the revolutionary
process along the path of socialism. “The fight continues!” , Gil emphasized.
“To the catacombs of the town”
It was March 26, 1994, when the Eternal Commander was released
from that prison to restore hope to the Venezuelan people, after being
locked up for 2 years due to the military rebellion he commanded on February 4, 1992, in response to the neoliberal measures imposed by the government
of Carlos Andrés Pérez.
After “For Now”, which was marked in the hearts of
Venezuelans, Chávez always maintained his revolutionary conviction, and when he
got out of jail he asked the population to form a large
national front and announced that the Bolivarian Revolutionary Movement 200 (MBR 200) would take to the streets to fight for the structural transformation of
the country.
That day of his freedom, he said: “I am going to the
catacombs to accompany the people”, a promise with which he began his journey to
every corner of the country carrying a message of love, peace and profound
revolutionary change towards the conquest of popular victory.
