The Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, during his speech at the plenary session of the XIX Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Movement of Non-Aligned Countries (MNOAL), reiterated Latin America's determination to preserve itself as a zone of peace.

From Kampala, Republic of Uganda, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister assured that for the region, direct dialogue, “within the framework of mechanisms that can be agreed upon by the parties”, is the only way to resolve conflicts.

He added that foreign powers must refrain “from encouraging the escalation of tensions or the emergence of artificial conflicts for the sole purpose of benefiting agendas of dubious and even obscure nature.”

The head of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela specified that, in the face of the challenges currently being faced, it is “necessary to strengthen not only international cooperation and solidarity, but also our spirit of unity within the MNOAL.”

In addition, he assured that only together is it possible to move towards overcoming problems “that are not common to all our nations and peoples of the developing world”.

“Let us therefore be non-aligned to discourage war, to discourage attempts to rewrite the fundamental principles and norms of international law, and to discourage recolonization efforts. Let us become a solid Movement for the life, peace, happiness, well-being and progress of our peoples, without limitations or exclusions of any kind,” he said.
