The Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yván
Gil, rejected this Tuesday the statements of the Undersecretary of State for Western Hemisphere
Affairs of the United States (USA), Brian Nichols,
regarding the arrest warrant against the representative of the extreme
opposition right Edmundo González Urrutia for six crimes, including sabotage and damage to systems.
“Nichols' bullying or bravado attitude is the product of the
transactions that are executed in Miami. Accomplice to the criminal gang
that tried to set fire to the country, after losing the elections, now throws
tantrums when justice reaches the organizers of violence and
ignorance of the public authorities,” the Venezuelan diplomat criticized in a message through his Telegram channel.
In this regard, he stated that “the United States must dedicate itself to its
problems, which they have enough, respect our country and our sovereignty,
we will continue to move forward despite its hatred and neocolonial influences.”
On Monday, the Court of First Instance with jurisdiction
for crimes associated with terrorism granted the arrest warrant requested
by the Public Ministry (MP) against the former opposition candidate, for being
linked to crimes such as usurpation of functions, the forging of public documents and incitement to disobey laws.
In addition, González Urrutia is allegedly involved in
the crimes of conspiracy, sabotage to system damage and association, which correspond
to articles 213, 319, 283 and 132 of the Criminal Code.
