This Thursday, September 12, the Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, rejected the position of the Secretary General of the United Nations (UN), António Guterres, who instead of standing in solidarity with the victims of the blockade and sanctions “places himself on the side of those who punish illegally, on the side of liars and perpetrators, and of fascists who violate rights and ignore the Venezuelan State”.
Through his Telegram account, Gil also stressed that “it is urgent that the Secretary General return to international legality, respect Venezuela and assert the institutions of the system to which he owes himself.”
The foreign minister insisted that it is essential that the UN act in accordance with its mandate and not be influenced by interests that harm sanctioned nations.
