The Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, shared the draft resolution entitled “Human Rights and Unilateral Coercive Measures”, presented by Cuba and Russia approved by the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly with 131 votes in favor, 55 against and zero abstentions.
“This important document emphasizes the rejection of the imposition of economic coercive measures that hinder the development of peoples and are contrary to international law, to the UN Charter, as well as to the norms and principles that govern peaceful and commercial relations between States,” said the People's Power Minister for Foreign Affairs.
He added that "the resolution specifically urges the powers to lift these measures, which have negative extraterritorial effects and violate the sovereignty of States, as well as the right of peoples to their socio-economic development”.
