First National Meeting of Oral Storytellers was held in Aragua

At the “Gran Tiuna” Peace Base in Maracay, Aragua state, the First National Meeting of Oral Storytellers, Popular Storytellers and Cacheros of Venezuela was held, in honor of Caimán de Sanare, considered the “greatest storyteller” in the country.
According to information from Venezolana de Televisión, the event brings together more than 90 participants from all over Venezuela and seeks to highlight the oral culture of the country, which is also part of the identity of the peoples.
On behalf of the Ministry of Popular Power for Culture, the opening ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister of Development for Cultural Economy and president of the National Book Center (CENAL), Raúl Cazal, who explained that “this initiative has great value, because it is the rescue of the stories of our native peoples, people of African descent and of our entire conformation as a Republic”.
“Everything is linked to oral narration, which often comes from what is written, but which has a fundamental value in that staging generated by oral storytellers and narrators,” he said.
He also emphasized that as part of the meeting, workshops and discussions are held that will have concrete results depending on generating a movement that is national.
