(EL MUNDO, AUGUST 28, 2000)

  • On August 27, 2000, the Sunday program hosted by Commander Hugo Chávez was broadcast for the first time on television: Hello President. This debut on the small screen corresponded to episode No. 40 and was made by Radio Nacional de Venezuela (RNV).
  • This fact set a precedent in President Chávez's approach to the real needs of the people.
  • This audiovisual platform created new challenges, whose restructuring catapulted Commander Chávez to the world stage.
  • In the course of his career, Aló Presidente traveled through the Venezuelan geography, covering all regions of the country, remote towns and even in unthinkable places such as La Isla del Burro (former concentration camp located on Lake Tacarigua), and Isla de Aves.
  • At the airing of the first joint broadcast of Aló Presidente, after a program of 4 hours 40 minutes, Commander Chávez stopped to greet the popular José Manuel Díaz Márquez “Joselo”, the best comedian in the history of Venezuelan television.
  • It wasn't the first time that Joselo had been on Radio Nacional de Venezuela, during the broadcast of an Aló Presidente. This time a handshake symbolized the friendship between a genius of popular humor and his namesake in universal politics.
  • During the program, Chávez took advantage of the section entitled Lead Hour to denounce deputies Julio Borges and Elías Santana for having abrogated their powers to represent civil society and commented that “I will continue with my lead, because I am not willing to give up the confrontation if some people continue to tempt me.”
