Venezuelan cinema continues to gain international recognition with the award won for the film “Guiomar Narváez in sustained love” at the Istanbul International Women's Film Festival, where it received the Special Jury Prize during its April edition.
Directed by Jinán Al-Shereidah Narváez, the feature film offers an intimate look at the life of pianist Guiomar Narváez, a key figure in national music and a reference for the movement “The Venezuelan Piano”. The story is built from the perspective of her daughter, who explores her artistic and human legacy.
The work highlights the teacher's influence on Venezuelan musical culture, as well as her link with important composers such as Vicente Emilio Sojo, Aldemaro Romero and Inocente Carreño, among other exponents who marked the country's sound identity.
The film was selected from thousands of international proposals and is part of a festival circuit that has boosted its global projection, after its premiere in Europe and its passage through events in the Caribbean.
Made with the support of the National Autonomous Center for Cinematography (CNAC), the production is consolidated as a piece that vindicates Venezuelan cultural memory through cinematographic language and music.
