The Venezuelan film Ali Primera by Daniel Yegres is nominated for the Latin American Perspectives category, Collateral Award, at the 45th edition of the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema in Havana, December 2024.

In this sense, Yegres considered that “to be present is to be part of the best of Latin American cinema, since there were two thousand works registered and Ali Primera was selected”.

He also highlighted that this festival is very prestigious, since it dates back to an initiative 45 years ago, created by Gabriel García Márquez, Fidel Castro and a series of filmmakers, documentalists and film directors who wanted to make a different festival on the continent of America.

He pointed out that the production company “Humana Cine” had already participated in this festival in the official selection of 2008, with the documentary Warriors of the Rainbow. “Now, being nominated again with Ali, it's a privilege. And we feel like winners every time the public accepts our film,” he said.

He noted that after Havana they will participate in a route of international festivals, in Guadalajara, Mar del Plata, Cali. “Then we will go to other latitudes, such as Biarritz, Malaga, Moscow and India,” he said.

He took the opportunity to invite the Venezuelan public to see the film in movie theaters, since it is a cinematic experience.

“My expectations: first, the international premiere, in other words, Ali Primera is already in its fourth week. It kicks off its fifth week in theaters this week and it's already the highest-grossing film of the entire year 2024 in Venezuela,” he said.
