The International Association Football Federation (FIFA) imposed sanctions on several teams, after several events in South American qualifying matches for the 2026 World Cup.

Among those sanctioned is the Venezuelan Football Federation (FVF), for delays in the start of the match between Vinotinto and Ecuador for the fifth day of the qualifiers and for throwing objects and invading the field.

The FVF will have to pay 7500 Swiss francs, equivalent to a total of almost nine thousand US dollars.

The Federations of Argentina and Brazil were also sanctioned for discriminatory behavior and invasion of the field by fans.

However, so far the Peruvian Football Federation has not been sanctioned by FIFA after the attacks suffered by both the Venezuelan national team and its fans by Peruvians.
