On December 23, 1865, Fermín Toro, a prominent Venezuelan writer and educator, died.
He was born on July 14, 1806. In 1839 he was appointed secretary in the diplomatic mission that the government entrusted to him in the English court.
On several occasions he served as Minister Plenipotentiary, Minister of Finance and also as Minister of Foreign Affairs.
In addition to his political work, he also excelled in letters and writing, which were quite notorious for the time.
In the same way, botanical research and studies on indigenous languages were highlighted.
His famous works: Reflections on the Law of April 10, 1834; Issue of Printing; The Martyrs; The Sibylla of the Andes; Speech to the Valencia Convention (1858); Description of the funeral honors dedicated to the remains of the Liberator Simon Bolivar.
His remains have been buried in the National Pantheon since April 23, 1876.
