Femicide in Bolivia decreased by 14% in 2023

This Wednesday, at a press conference, the Minister of Government, Eduardo del Castillo, gave a balance sheet of cases of femicide in Bolivia, where he indicated that it decreased by 14% in 2023 compared to 2022.

In this regard, he explained that there were a total of 81 femicides, unlike in 2022 when 95 were counted, in 2021 there were 108 and in 2020 113 cases.

In this regard, he highlighted that last year there was an effectiveness of more than 96% due to the rapid response of security agencies regarding the 78 clarified cases where more than 90 people were apprehended as material, intellectual and accomplices of the femicides.

According to what was published on the TELESUR web portal, the minister reported that 42,634 complaints were answered for cases of violence against women and minors, of which 32,188 were acts of family violence, during the past month of November.
