On February 4, 1992, the history of Venezuela changed forever, after a lieutenant colonel, barely 38 years old and named Hugo Chávez Frías, took responsibility for a civic-military rebellion that he led to restore dignity to a people that were mired in poverty, as a result of the neoliberal policies applied by the Government of the then president Carlos Andrés Pérez and the former presidents who preceded him for more than three decades.

By publicly acknowledging that “unfortunately, for now, the objectives we set for ourselves have not been achieved in the capital city”, and with his courage to assume “before the country and before you”, Commander Chávez spoke in front of the television cameras.

However, 32 years after this revolutionary military movement, the Venezuelan people are keeping alive this flare, which is a legacy of the anti-imperialist struggle of Commander Chávez.

“We tell imperialism that it is not here, that they are not welcome here, that this country decided to be free and at all costs we will be free,” said Diosdado Cabello, one of the heroes of 4F from the Mountain Barracks.
