Members of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) dismantled, in the state of Amazonas, a camp used by illegal miners, reported the Strategic Operational Commander of the FANB, G/J Domingo Hernández Lárez.

Through a message posted on his Instagram account, the senior military officer explained that 37 13 HP motor pumps were found and destroyed in the space mentioned above; two mills; 4,730 meters of 8-inch high-pressure hose; 7 5-inch PVC tubes; 210 meters of mining carpet; 42 Tame-type structures; two drums; two drums; two poplar homemade weapons; a rifle firearm model Hatsan Edge 5.5 mm; a bag with 100 5.5 mm pellets; four unexploded cartridges, cal. 16 mm; a container containing gunpowder; four portable radios; 33 plastic drums; a tablet; a cell phone; a Colombian identity card; three trays.

In addition, in the same operation, the uniformed personnel apprehended a 28-year-old citizen who had 5.7 grams of gold material (gold) obtained from illegal mining and 21.7 grams of sulfur (mercury) used to devastate the environment.

“In the state of Amazonas, according to our territorial legal system, mining and hydrocarbon exploitation is totally prohibited. Land in the national territory is not negotiated, it is not sold and it cannot be alienated. National parks and forest areas must be protected by all citizens, since they are under the special conservation protection regime of the Venezuelan State,” said Hérnandez Lárez.
