FANB dismantled two camps and apprehended 11 miners in Amazonas

The Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) detected and destroyed, through patrolling and searching in the state of Amazonas, 2 camps used for illegal mining, reported the strategic operational commander of the FANB, G/J Domingo Hernández Lárez.

Through a message published in his X account, the senior military officer explained that the first camp was found in the Atabapo municipality, in the Yagua sector. The second camp was located in the Yapacana Hill, in the Mina Anibal sector.

In both camps, a 2500w generator was found and destroyed; three 3/4 HP motor pumps; three plastic containers containing 350 liters of gasoline; several spare parts for motor pumps and power plants; two cooling cellars; a 1.5 meter 4-inch hose; a mattress; two meters of carpet; two improvised structures for staff accommodation; two hydrojets; 20 4-inch PVC pipes; 30 meters of high pressure hose; or a power plant.

Hernández Lárez also reported that 11 illegal miners were arrested in this action .

“Mining or hydrocarbon exploitation has been banned in the state of Amazonas since 1976. It is a duty and a constitutional right to protect the environment,” he stressed.
