In the state of Zulia, the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) disabled an aircraft that illegally entered our airspace, said the Operational Strategic Commander of the FANB, G/J Domingo Hernández Lárez.

“Within the framework of Operation Bolivarian Lightning Shield of Catatumbo 2024, FANB declares an operational defense and early warning plan after being detected by the radar exploration systems of the Integral Aerospace Defense, the surreptitious entry of a vector in irregular flight entering from the Caribbean Sea without issuing an identification code or transponder 52 nautical miles from the international airport “Josefa Camejo” in Punto Fijo, Falcón State, so the deployment is ordered of the aerial combat reconnaissance vehicles in pursuit of the trace, and it was detected that the aircraft in question had landed, had been hidden in a gallery forest and covered with a camouflaged mesh,” explained the senior military officer through a message published in his X account.

In this regard, he explained that after the aircraft was detected, Rapid Reaction Units of the FANB were deployed in the Catatumbo municipality of that entity to immobilize this vehicle, which was allegedly used by criminal organizations dedicated to trafficking in arms and drugs.

“Venezuela is a democratic State of law and justice and as a territory of peace, a constant and sustained fight against the scourges of transnational crimes of drug trafficking, arms trafficking, illegal mining and human trafficking. Our national territory will not be a platform for transnational organized crime,” Hernández Lárez emphasized.
