During river and riverine patrols over the Cunucunumaen riverbed in the Alto Orinoco municipality of the state of Amazonas, members of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) detected and destroyed a suction raft used for illegal mining.

The strategic operational commander of the FANB, G/J Domingo Hernández Lárez, explained that the structure was detected in the immediate vicinity of the indigenous community El Porvenir.

In the said raft, a six-cylinder diesel-powered engine was found, which was hidden to preserve it; an air compressor; a snail-type suction turbine; 20 meters of 8-inch plastic hose; 30 meters of high-pressure hose of different sizes; six liters of oil; 880 liters of diesel; 15 meters of carpet for sieving gold material; eight metal grids; tools for mechanical work and logistic support.

“The individual and collective conscience of the population plays an important role in protection, and the protection of the environment for the survival of the human species on the planet is established in the 5th strategic objective of the nation,” emphasized the senior military officer through his account X.
