On May 22, 1937, the poet and singer-songwriter, Facundo Cabral, was born in the city of Buenos
Aires, Argentina, a
man with a sincere and humble verb who paints the beauty of the human being with hope, love and faith.
From a very young age, he had an untamed strength and admirable
perseverance that led him to flee at the age of nine with the
determination to meet Argentine President Juan
Domingo Perón to request work, an objective he achieved on
November 19, 1946, when, on instructions from the southern president, his mother
was granted employment in the city of Tandil.
His childhood marked by poverty and almost begging
pushed him from an early age to the streets and thus to alcoholism, so
he was locked up in a reform school because of his violent behavior. It is here that
he meets a Jesuit priest who guides him in learning that Facundo would continue
in a self-taught way.
From there, a passion for
literature and knowledge began to grow inside him, which, when it overflowed, began to be reflected in
countless verses and compositions, where the human and the divine stood out in their magnanimity.
Facundo died on July 9, 2011, as a result of an
attack with assassins that was orchestrated in Guatemala City against the organizer of a concert by
the Argentinian singer in Central America.
Today, 87 years after the birth of this angel of life and love, the peoples of the world sing their songs to continue to exalt the human and defeat the ignominy of systems that attempt to bury the divine force that permeates everything human.
