As part of the actions of the second post-seismic event phase in the state of Aragua, a multidisciplinary team was deployed in the Ocumare municipality of the Gold Coast to evaluate the conditions and structures of the Catholic temples that were damaged after the double earthquake of last June 24 and their aftershocks.
Among the Catholic facilities reviewed are the churches of San Sebastián Mártir de Ocumare, San Francisco de Asís de Cata and Immaculate Conception located in the town of Cuyagua, where the access of the parishioners has been completely restricted, so religious services will be taking place in open spaces or parish houses to ensure the safety of the faithful.
The structures were evaluated by officials specialized in the subject and were present the members of the religious committees and the People's Power in each of the towns and Monsignor Enrique José Parravano Marino, leader of the Catholic Church in the entity.
Mayor Wilmer Leal thanked the president in charge, Delcy Rodríguez and Governor Joana Sánchez, for their support for their attention to the territory. “Thank you for sending us the civil engineers and geologists who have done the revision of our temples, we are still working for our people,” he said.
