The Ministry of Popular Power for Culture (MPPC) and the National Museums Foundation (FMN) inaugurated the exhibition “Ali Primera. Mi Tierra Mansa” at the Carlos Cruz-Diez Print and Design Museum (MEDI).

The exhibition that forms part of the program “Ali, Sowing Conscience and Love for the Fatherland. 40 Years”, commemorating the four decades of his physical departure, presents a careful selection of photographs, album covers, digital illustrations, caricatures, the painting “Forever Ali” by Ysabel Pernalete (acrylic on canvas), a soft sculpture representing the “Singer of the People”, and the projection of the documentary” Wounded by Life”.

The inauguration was attended by Mary Pemjean, Deputy Minister of Culture for Image and Space Arts, and president of the National Museum Foundation, who celebrated the attendance of young people at the venue and invited them to learn about the life and work of Ali Primera.

“I am very happy to see young people here in this space of the Carlos Cruz-Diez Museum, always welcome to this museum that is their home. Today I am doubly happy, because we have the exhibition of one of our singer-songwriters, a symbol for Venezuelans, who unfortunately left us 40 years ago, but which was planted in this country. The proof that your planting bears fruit is that you, young people, know the legacy of Ali Primera,” he said.

The activity included a recital by the young Venezuelan musician Jesús Rodríguez, who performed a repertoire of Ali Primera. In addition, the MEDI Education team carried out a flannel printing activity with the logo of “Ali, sowing awareness and love for the Fatherland. 40 years”.

María Sequera Escobar, researcher at the Carlos Cruz-Diez Museum of Printing and Design and curator of the exhibition, said: “40 years ago Venezuelan music mourned its departure. “Ali Primera. My Quiet Land” is an exhibition dedicated to remembering his memory, and invites us to continue rescuing the song of the turpial so that these ideas continue to generate the living memory of Ali Primera”.
