The Executive Vice President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and Co-Chair of the High-Level Intergovernmental Commission (CIAN) for Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, met with her Russian counterpart Dmitry Chernyshenko to discuss the expansion and deepening of cooperation between the two nations, with the objective of strengthening collaboration in various sectors.

“We reviewed the details, the Subcommissions that must meet in each of the spaces of Russia-Venezuela cooperation, with a very clear program with the instructions given by President Nicolás Maduro and which intersect with those given by the head of state of Russia, Vladimir Putin,” Rodríguez said.

He argued that Russia and Venezuela are two extremely important players in the energy world. “We work so that we can extend our cooperation in different sectors as has been done, in the areas of technology, health, energy, financial and cultural sciences, among others,” he said.

In this regard, he reported that cooperation with Russia will be expanded in the sports field so that Venezuelan athletes receive specialized care with Russian experts.

He stressed that 17 agreements were signed in the last CIAN. “Between the years 2021-2023, more than 70 were signed and are currently under execution. We have seen growth in our bilateral trade, in the area of agriculture, in fertilizers, in derivatives,” he added.

Rodríguez announced that the next meeting of the Russia-Venezuela High-Level Intergovernmental Commission will be held in Caracas.

During the meeting, the Government of Russia presented the Order of Friendship to the Executive Vice President as a symbol of recognition of the deep ties that unite two sister peoples, based on deep respect for international law.
