In an interview with W Radio Colombia, former green beret Jordan Goudreau revealed the quarrels between Juan Guaidó, Leopoldo López and Lester Toledo, over funding from the United States (USA).
The former green beret, involved in Operation Gideon to assassinate the president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, stated that the plan failed because he had no military support. He explained that “the main problem with the operation was that Leopoldo López, Juan Guaidó and the US agencies had different interests. On the other hand, back then, Donald Trump had very powerful enemies within the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) that prevented the operation so that he could not lift the “trophy” that Venezuela meant,” said Fuser News.
He further asserted that “Guaidó was afraid that Clever Alcalá would take power by leaving it out, while Leopoldo also wanted power immediately, so it was difficult to reach agreements because both received a lot of money from the US government, but from different sources.”
“It upsets me to be called mercenaries, because mercenaries get paid and neither he nor his team was paid for Operation Gideon,” he said. He added that “I wanted Maduro to come out alive but the intelligence contract had “a commercial interest”.
