Emergency care authorities in Japan count 57 deaths in the earthquake

The number of victims of the 7.6 magnitude earthquake that shook the west coast of Japan on January 1 rose to 57 fatalities.
According to a report by the Japan Geospatial Information Agency to date, authorities have confirmed that of the 57 deaths, of which 24 were recorded in the city of Wajima; 20 in the city of Suzu; five in Nanao; and several more in other cities, the Sputnik news agency reported.
On January 1 at 16:10 local time, an earthquake of magnitude 7.6 shook the Noto Peninsula, on the western coast of Japan, being the most intense since records began in 1885. Prior to the earthquake, an earthquake of magnitude 5.7 occurred and later there were multiple aftershocks in the area, one of which of magnitude 6.1.
