The president of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Elvis Amoroso, rejected the recent decision of the European Union (EU) to lift a series of sanctions against him, considering that this action constitutes a new attempt to blackmail the Electoral Power.

“This decision of the EU to only lift sanctions against me is contrary to the duty I have as a Venezuelan to honor and defend this homeland,” he said, while considering it “unworthy” to receive this “gift” from the European bloc while 30 million Venezuelans suffer the consequences of the sanctions.

In this sense, he described as a neocolonial practice the imposition of sanctions on our country as a mechanism for intervening in national political life.

“I urge the European Union and other countries such as the United States and the United Kingdom to proceed with the lifting of all the Unilateral and Genocidal Coercive Measures imposed on the dignified Venezuelan people and that violate their human rights,” he emphasized in a statement.

In the same way, he stressed that as long as the European Union maintains its policy of hostility against Venezuela, it will be impossible for it to achieve good relations with the CNE.
