A total of 78 doctors and women from the Republic of Guinea-Bissau are starting specialization courses in Venezuela with postgraduate courses in anesthesiology, general surgery, gynecology, obstetrics, internal medicine, oncology, nephrology and others that are urgently needed in their country of origin, in order to address deficiencies in these areas.

Health professionals were received at the Central Auditorium of the “Dr. Salvador Allende” Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM), in Caracas, as part of the cooperation agreement on health matters between Venezuela and Guinea, whose main objective is the training of experts and collaboration in medical care for the peoples of the world.

The Deputy Minister of Integral Health of Venezuela, Yuliana Ramos, explained that these doctors and doctors come to specialize in different hospitals, thanks to the “integrative and supportive approach, because Venezuela, as a country, has been training students and professionals, not only from Latin America but from the world, through the ELAM and the University of Health Sciences, Hugo Chávez”.

The doctors will be inserted into the National Public Health System of Caracas and Miranda, in hospitals where specialties are performed, with the purpose of acquiring the knowledge that will allow them to improve the living and health conditions of their people, once they return to their country.

“They will leave with a seal, an imprint of the Bolivarian Revolution, which has taken an important step to serve the population in a different, humanist, socialist way,” said the director of the ELAM, Dr. Marisela Bermúdez.

Venezuela confirms its intention to help and benefit the peoples of the world. The Bolivarian Revolution has established as a priority the training of doctors with a vision of humanistic care to guarantee and protect the lives of the most vulnerable.

One of the participating doctors, Eunice Forrare, thanked the Bolivarian Government and the People of Venezuela for this opportunity. “We want to train ourselves and return to our country, to make our contribution and improve the health of our compatriots.”
