The vice-president of Ecuador, Verónica Abad, reported to the United Nations (UN) in Geneva, Switzerland, the violation of her human and political rights, after being banned for two years from holding any public office by the Electoral Dispute Tribunal (TCE).
“I am here in the city of Geneva, in front of the United Nations Palace. I have come to this place to meet with the different international human rights organizations, to bring my duly documented file of violence to my human rights, to my political rights as a woman, as a mother, and to my fundamental rights for life,” Abad reported in a video posted on her social networks.
On March 28, the ECA ratified the suspension imposed by a judge due to a case of gender-based political violence, a ruling that disqualified Abad from holding any public office during the electoral period, in which the far-right Daniel Noboa is seeking re-election.
