Ecuador: New massacre leaves at least 8 dead in Guayaquil

In the midst of the wave of violence and insecurity that Ecuador is going through, this Saturday there was a new massacre in the province of Guayas, which left eight people dead and eight injured, during a volleyball game.
According to the preliminary police report, based on witness accounts, at approximately 18:55 local time, “several armed individuals had arrived aboard a vehicle, who shot at a group of people who were on site”.
The armed attack occurred in the Guasmo Sur sector of the city of Guayaquil, and, according to local media, two of the victims died at the scene of the attack and the others in the hospital.
“A flurry of gunfire alarmed residents of the Mariuxi Febres Cordero sector, in southern Guasmo, this Saturday night,” some media outlets in Guayaquil published.
The armed attack in the coastal province of Guayas is in addition to other violent events that occurred during the first two days off for Holy Week, TELESUR reports on its website.
