Ecuador: El Rodeo prison director assassinated

Last Sunday, Ecuadorian authorities reported that unknown persons shot and killed the director of the El Rodeo prison, in Manabí, as part of the holding of the popular consultation and referendum promoted by President Daniel Noboa.

In the midst of the elections, the Ecuadorian Public Prosecutor's Office carried out the first steps regarding the death of Cosme Damián Parrales, director of the Centers for Deprivation of Liberty (CPL) Number 4, in Manabí, located in the west.

“The incident, which occurred in Jipijapa, also left one person injured. So far there are no detainees,” said the entity, according to detailed information from Telesur.

On the other hand, the National Service for Comprehensive Care for Adults Deprived of Liberty and Adolescent Offenders has not commented on the fact.

This is the third homicide in five days by an authority in Ecuador, after the murders of two mayors of municipalities in the south of the country were recorded on Wednesday and Friday.
