The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) projects that the Venezuelan economy will grow 6.5% in 2026 and will maintain that pace in 2027, according to estimates released this Thursday and replicated by the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN).
The agency's figures indicated that Venezuela will register an expansion of 8.9% in 2025. The forecast for the next two years places the country above the estimated growth for the entire region, which reached 2.2% in 2026 and 2.5% in 2027.
In South America, ECLAC estimates an average growth of 2.1% this year and 2.4% next. Venezuela is among the economies with the highest projected rates in the subregion, above Paraguay, with 4.5% and 4.0%; Argentina, with 1.9% and 3.0%; and Brazil, with 2.1% and 2.0%. Bolivia has the lowest forecasts at 0.2% and 0.6%.
In its regional analysis, the agency warns that performance will be conditioned by international uncertainty, geopolitical tensions, rising energy and food prices, the evolution of employment and external financing.
ECLAC also raises the need to promote productive development policies and formalization strategies that contribute to raising productivity, promoting quality jobs and sustaining economic growth.
